PSJA ISD Theatre Troupes Shine at 2025 Palm Awards; Students Awarded Over $100K in Scholarships
McAllen – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of its theatre students, directors, and longtime staff members recognized during the 2025 Palm Awards Ceremony held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.
The Palm Award celebrates the dedication, creativity, and talent of theatre students across the Rio Grande Valley, recognizing them in categories such as Best Production, Best Leading Actor/Actress, Best Ensemble, and Best Technical Crew, just to name a few.
This year’s Palm Awards spotlighted several PSJA ISD Theatre Programs for their performance on and off the stage, earning over a combined 40 nominations across five PSJA ISD theatre troupes. PSJA Southwest Early College High School (ECHS) earned three major awards:

Best Ensemble in Musical – Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Best Technical Crew in a Musical – Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Best Scenic Design in a Play – Mojada
In addition to the performance recognitions, three PSJA students were honored with prestigious college scholarships from the American Musical and Dance Academy (AMDA), one of the nation’s leading performing arts colleges:

Christian Chavez – PSJA North ECHS – Full Ride Scholarship

Jaylynn Rubio – PSJA Memorial ECHS - $50,000 Scholarship

Meagan Flores – PSJA North ECHS - $50,000 Scholarship
